Despite last Thursday being a rainy, windy mess, we plowed ahead with our St. Jean BBQ as scheduled. Jeremy manned the grill so we could enjoy rain-splashed saucisse and végé dogs tucked into charred rolls. Penny whipped up her boozy raspberry-spiked sangria. Natasha put on her baking pants and celebrated her first-ever St. Jean with no less than four cakes: lemon chiffon with fresh lemon curd + vanilla buttercream; rhubarb-raspberry galette and homemade whipped cream; dark chocolate cake with raspberry compote and chocolate ganache; and a cardamom-spiced upside-down strawberry cake. Was a killer party, rain or shine. Added bonus: enormous blue tarp stretched over patio that felt like we were camping. Hooray for summer!
