C’est difficile de trouver des gens qui ne sont pas amateurs de bouffe vietnamienne, non? Au Pick Up, nous sommes de fervents adeptes de cette cuisine savoureuse, ce qui explique notre grande joie d’avoir pu vous proposer notre tout premier souper vietnamien samedi dernier en collaboration avec le duo invité Rau Rum de Jenn Doan et Ted Strauss !

It’s hard to find someone who doesn’t dig Vietnamese food, right? Here at the Pick Up, we certainly count ourselves as enthusiasts, which is why we were very excited to host our very first Vietnamese dinner in collaboration with guest chef duo Rau Rum, aka Jenn Doan and Ted Strauss last Saturday!

Avec l’appétit bien aiguisé par les photos alléchantes du billet d’invitation, notre groupe de 32 invités s’est installé dans notre cour arrière pour un festin vietnamien à quatre services, fait maison, accompagné de deux vins blancs spécialement jumelés.

With collective appetites appropriately whetted by the preview photos, our gang of thirty-two guests sat down in our cozy back yard to enjoy a late summer, four course, home-style Vietnamese feast, accompanied by two specially selected wine pairings.

For those unable to attend, here is what you missed!

First course: Bò-Bía – fresh rolls of jicama, carrots, dried shrimp, and fresh herbs. Homemade hoisin sauce

Second course: Canh chua – Sour and savoury tamarind soup, with okra, pineapple and special herbs (cilantro and rice paddy herb)
Broken Rice

Third course: Cá Hap – Classic steamed fish with pork, mushroom, and cellophane noodles

Dessert: Chè chuoi – Sweet banana and tapioca pearls in a delicate cocunut sauce, roasted almonds and a drizzle of maple syrup
